298. Portstewart
The resort of Portstewart with its small sheltered harbour, substantial houses along the promenade, and 3-mile strand stretching to the Bann mouth, always had more pretensions than neighbouring Portrush.
The novelist Charles Lever (1806-1872) was dispensary doctor here for some time, and many of the incidents related to his stories are said to have originated in this district.
